Here’s an activity that encourages children to practise inferring. They need to make guesses about the owner based on the contents of a backpack that Rav and Terri find in the park. Children might try the activity alone, perhaps underlining key clues that lead to an inference, then form small groups to compare and discuss their answers.
This activity goes together with my article at The Book Chook, Helping Kids to Infer, published July 14, 2014.
