Free PDF for Children’s Book Week 2014, Name that Book

Name that Book coverIn conjunction with my post at The Book Chook, Activities for Children’s Book Week 2014, I want to share the second of several PDFs I’ve made: Name that Book. The first was Mystery Titles.

With Name that Book, I’ve provided clues, both visual and textual, to Australian short-listed books from 2014, with a couple of classic book titles to be extra fiendish. I haven’t actually mentioned “short-list” anywhere on the PDF, so that may be a clue you need to provide depending on your kids.

There are two versions: one in colour, and one in black and white for ease of printing on 1 A4 size sheet. The clues will hopefully have students researching more about children’s books in general, and the short-listed titles for Book of the Year in particular. I’ve also thrown in some challenging vocabulary for super sleuths.

Just in case I’ve been too tricky, here are the answers. Hopefully, kids won’t find their way here!

Name that Book:
1. Storm Boy (classic)
2. Banjo and Ruby Red
3. Granny Grommet and Me
4. The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie (classic) (pic is of a banksia)
5. Violet Mackerel’s Possible Friend
6. My Life as an Alphabet
7. I’m a Dirty Dinosaur
8. The First Third
9. The Sky So Heavy
10. The Swap

You can download either version of this PDF by clicking : NamethatBookcolour or NamethatBook (black and white).
